It interrupts dinner. It wants another password. It updates at the worst possible moment. It somehow knows exactly when you're trying to relax and decides that's the perfect time to ask for a software restart.
So no, I'm not someone who believes newer technology is automatically better.
But in dentistry, the right technology can make a meaningful difference—not because it's flashy, but because it helps us take better care of people (and it can help you save money)!
At Tree Streets Dental, we use technology thoughtfully. The goal isn't to impress you with gadgets. The goal is to make your experience more comfortable, improve the accuracy of our diagnosis, and help us make treatment recommendations that are truly in your best interest.
Seeing more means guessing less
One of the biggest advantages of modern dentistry is that we can see much more than we could in the past.Digital X-rays allow us to evaluate your teeth, roots, and supporting bone with remarkable clarity while using less radiation than older systems.
We also use intraoral photography, which lets us show you exactly what we're seeing. This is one of my favorite tools because it turns dentistry into a conversation instead of a lecture.
Rather than saying, "There's a crack here," we can show you the crack. Rather than saying, "Let's keep an eye on this area," you can see exactly what we're monitoring. The more informed you are, the better decisions we can make together.
Better information can mean more conservative care
Here's something patients don't always expect: Sometimes better technology means doing less treatment.
When we can see an area clearly and monitor it over time, we're often able to catch changes early and make thoughtful recommendations before small problems become large ones.
At Tree Streets Dental, we're not interested in treating things that don't need treatment. We're interested in helping you keep your natural teeth healthy for as long as possible. Technology helps us make those decisions with greater confidence.
Comfort matters, too
Technology isn't only about diagnosis. It's also about creating a more comfortable experience.
Digital imaging is faster and more efficient than older methods, and many modern tools help streamline appointments so there's less waiting, less uncertainty, and fewer surprises.
We believe dental visits should feel calm, comfortable, and collaborative—not stressful. Anything that helps support that goal is worth paying attention to.
The best technology is still a conversation
No piece of equipment replaces experience, judgment, or trust. Technology can provide information. It can't tell us what matters most to you.
That's why our approach has always been patient-centered. We combine modern tools with careful listening, clear communication, and personalized treatment planning. The technology helps. The relationship comes first. Whether you're spending July at the beach, enjoying backyard barbecues, or simply trying to stay cool during another Midwest heat wave, we hope you're enjoying the season.
And if you're due for a visit, know that we'll continue embracing technology the same way we approach everything else: Thoughtfully. Not because it's new. Because it helps us take better care of you.
